These plaques were set up in 1978 or later. As such, they are unpublished and copyrighted for 120 years since the text was written. The files can't be uploaded to Commons before the copyright has expired. See COM:FOP#United States. The category also includes a few photos where the year can't be read. Those may also be copyright violations, but I didn't include them here.

To me, this is copyright paranoia. These short texts are so bland that they are hardly copyrightable at all. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 20:09, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Before deleting these, one should at least mail the en:Texas Historical Commission. The purpose of the markers, which are available in a variety of types (cemetery, building, subject) and sizes, is to educate the public. I doubt if they indeed claim copyright over them, and maybe they'd donate these short texts explicitely to the Public Domain. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 20:12, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment: Would placement as a permanent part of a building make it part of a building for FOP purposes? (And why does this nomination and all the nomination tags have a slew of "Undelete in..." categories? If they get deleted, even if the categories are somehow extractable after "deletion", doesn't this cause every deleted image to have lots of fake undeletion dates in addition to the one appropriate for that file?) --Closeapple (talk) 20:22, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I sent an email to the Texas Historical Commission.--Sphilbrick (talk) 15:58, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: These are all well beyond the threshold of copyright for literary works in the USA. .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 11:40, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
